WhatsApp's blue tick has become such a big part of our lives that we almost can't live without knowing if a message has been delivered or read... With email it is more complicated because a delivery receipt is often a gateway to security issues and IT departments get annoyed.

Communicating on social media platforms like WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Facebook has become an accepted medium.  But not all the settings are the same across the board.

With WhatsApp you have to switch off your time stamp in order to be more private.  Similarly Facebook and Instagram messages are open until you choose to switch to private messages.
